Bratislava, 9 June (TASR) - The police carried out checks on more than 3,000 road-users during the 2Wheelers road-safety operation, organised by international organisation ROADPOL and primarily focused on motorcyclists, cyclists and e-scooter riders, the police have posted on social media. During the checks, which were carried out throughout last week, police officers didn't detect a single motorcyclist under the influence of alcohol or drugs. However, they found 33 cyclists and four e-scooter users who had consumed alcohol. Police officers also recorded ten cases of more than one person riding the same e-scooter and three cases in which an electric scooter was driven by a person under the age of 15. "Among the most serious offences detected were cases involving cyclists and e-scooter riders with high levels of alcohol. In one case, an e-scooter user had a breath alcohol level of more than two milligrams per litre," said the police. Bratislava region police spokeswoman Silvia Simkova stated that police officers carried out 319 checks on this group of road-users in Bratislava region during the operation. "They recorded one cyclist riding under the influence of alcohol, who was fined on the spot. Two e-scooter riders were also caught, one of whom had a positive breath test below one part per thousand, while the other had a level above one part per thousand. The cases will be referred to the relevant administrative authority for a decision on the penalty. Three scooter drivers with auxiliary motors who had 'company' while riding were checked. This is not permitted by law, and they were also dealt with on the spot with a fine. They then had to continue on their way without the passengers," said Simkova. ko/df
