Trencin, 22 May (TASR) - The European Cultural Summer will feature more than 100 events not only in the centre of Trencin but also in various parts of the city, and it will take place as part of the European Capital of Culture 2026 project, kicking off in late June and running through the end of September, director of the Trencin Creative Institute Stanislav Krajci told TASR.
"European doesn't just mean a programme enriched with various European names, but it also means a response to the European values of freedom and cooperation. We're reflecting this through our collaboration with the two largest festivals, Grape and Pohoda," said Krajci.
According to him, the European Cultural Summer will feature major exhibitions of visual and performing arts, as well as smaller community events.
Trencin Museum head Peter Martinisko stated that the European Cultural Summer at Trencin Castle will be dedicated to the theme of the Romans.
"We'll open the season during the first weekend in July, and then every Saturday, a programme will be prepared for visitors, ranging from the Middle Ages to significant events in the castle's history. It will culminate with the theme of the Battle of Mohacs, the 500th anniversary of which we'll commemorate this year. A separate exhibition will also be part of the programme," added Martinisko.
