ZSSK: Rail Traffic between Kosice and Kysak Resumes after Fatal Accident

Kosice/Bratislava, 22 May (TASR) - Rail traffic on the Kosice-Kysak line was suspended on Friday morning after a passenger train hit a person on the tracks on the section between Kosice and Kostolany nad Hornadom at approximately 8:40 a.m. According to spokesperson for state-owned passenger carrier ZSSK Jan Bacek, services resumed at midday. "On the Kosice-Kysak section and back, ZSSK introduced replacement shuttle bus transport for passengers. Due to the disruption on the line, 23 train services have so far been cancelled either in full or on part of their route," the spokesperson noted. Emergency services and police sealed off the area, and police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. mf/df
