Pellegrini to Attend V4 Presidents Summit in Esztergom

Bratislava, 2 December (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini is due to attend a summit of the V4 (Visegrad Four: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) heads of state at the St. Adalbert Centre in Esztergom, Hungary on Wednesday (3 December), the President's Office has told TASR, adding that the meeting is being organised by Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok as part of Hungary's current presidency of the Visegrad Four. The aim of the meeting of the presidents is to confirm their shared interest in continuing cooperation among their countries and developing mutual understanding in the central European region. "The heads of state will therefore discuss the past, present and future of the International Visegrad Fund during a plenary session. The meeting will also be attended by the fund's executive director, Linda Kapustova Helbichova, who will present to the presidents the story of the fund's 25 years of activity and its contribution towards building ties between the V4 countries and neighbouring regions," said the office. The heads of state will also address the issue of increasing competitiveness, particularly in the context of boosting productivity, modernisation and strengthening the position of the central European region. According to the office, the third topic of discussion will be the revolution in artificial intelligence (AI), during which the presidents will exchange views on the effective use of AI and modern technologies in order to strengthen Europe's economic position. The office pointed out that the summit programme will also include a working lunch, during which the presidents will discuss the role of Visegrad cooperation in addressing common challenges, including security, defence, migration, transport and energy security. am/df
