MPs Continue Session with Debate on Ferencak's Removal as Committee Chair

Bratislava, 2 December (TASR) - After Parliament failed to open a special session on Transport Minister Jozef Raz's (a Smer-SD nominee) ouster on Tuesday morning, Parliament continued its regular session with a proposal to remove Jan Ferencak (Voice-SD) from the post of chair of the parliamentary committee for European affairs, which was submitted by Voice-SD MPs.
The MPs want to replace Ferencak with Peter Kmec (Voice-SD).
"Given that MP Kmec has begun to exercise his MP's mandate, we propose MP Ferencak's dismissal from the post of European Affairs committee chair, as MP Kmec has many years of experience, professional practice, very good contacts and a good reputation in the field of diplomacy," stated the Voice-SD MPs.
Ferencak criticised Voice's communication about his dismissal, pointing out that he only learnt about it from the media. Before the beginning of the ongoing parliamentary session, he said that he wouldn't present himself at votes until the proposal for his removal is voted on.
Parliament will sit until 8 p.m. on Tuesday. MPs should vote on the proposals that have already been discussed at 5 p.m.
