Bratislava, 14 November (TASR) - The Association of Employers' Unions (AZZZ) on Friday called for a nationwide dialogue on Slovakia's strategic direction, noting that the country is entering a period of significant uncertainty and rapid changes, with shifts in the geopolitical environment and rising internal tensions.
Society is becoming increasing polarised, and public finances have been deteriorating for a long time. Facing many challenges, the business environment is worsening as well, according to AZZZ.
"In this turbulent period, Slovakia needs to be capable of adapting flexibly to new challenges that bring both opportunities and risks. We're convinced that one of the keys is to strengthen Slovakia's strategic direction," said AZZZ president Rastislav Machunka. He added that meeting the long-term strategic goals for the country's future direction extends across several electoral terms.
To support this nationwide dialogue, AZZZ has invited the leaders of the parliamentary political parties to attend a round-table discussion in order to speak about the shared strategic priorities and possibilities for implementing them in a coordinated manner. The strategic goals for the country's future direction must be based on nationwide consensus across the political spectrum, according to AZZZ.
"The aim of our initiative is to seek common ground and to lay the groundwork for a stable and long-term sustainable direction for Slovakia, regardless of the current political divide," added Machunka.
