Kosice, 13 November (TASR) - At a conference called GradeUP taking place in Kosice on Thursday, President Peter Pellegrini highlighted the importance of the Education Ministry's national project to support the entrepreneurial and innovative potential of students and added that he believes in and supports the project. "I think this is a ground-breaking project that can advance higher education in Slovakia by one level, and perhaps even more," said the head of state. According to him, the aim of these efforts is to encourage students to develop an appetite for doing business, engaging in innovation and trying new things while still at university. He emphasised that the Slovak economy and industry must keep up with current trends and that innovation is and will continue to be the foundation of sustainable economic growth. The president stressed that human capital is Slovakia's most valuable asset. "This means a well-educated society and well-prepared students who precisely meet the needs of our economy and industry," said Pellegrini, adding that high-quality, top-notch education is Slovakia's only chance for success. The GradeUP conference at Kosice's Technical University is being organised by the Education, Science, Research and Sport Ministry on the occasion of the official presentation of the national project called 'Support for the Entrepreneurial and Innovative Potential of Students'. The conference is being attended by Education Minister Tomas Drucker (Voice-SD). am/df
