Bratislava, 10 October (TASR) – The Slovak government will hold its session for the second time this week, with the main item on its Friday's agenda being the 2026–2028 general government budget proposal submitted by the Finance Ministry.
The proposal is also to be discussed by social partners at an extraordinary session of the Economic and Social Council to be held just before the government's session.
According to the budget proposal, the general government deficit is expected to reach 4.1 percent of GDP next year, amounting to nearly €6 billion, which is less that this year's expected level of 5 percent of GDP.
On Friday, the government should also discuss the budgets of several institutions, including the Slovak Land Fund, which is expected to post a surplus of €6.36 million in 2026, €5.14 million in 2027, and €5.49 million in 2028.
Furthermore, the social-insurance provider Socialna poistovna envisages funds totalling €16.42 billion next year, a 2.41 percent increase compared with the current year. Its revenues are expected to reach €15.24 billion next year, of which €12.58 billion will be paid by the economically active population through insurance contributions.
