HaZZ: Bratislava Firefighters Stop Sinking of Ship at Anchor on Danube

Bratislava, August 11 (TASR) - Bratislava firefighters on Monday afternoon managed to stop the sinking of one of the anchored ships on the Danube near the Tyrsovo Embankment, the Fire and Rescue Corps (HaZZ) posted on a social network. "Bratislava firefighters took action this afternoon on the Danube near the Tyrsovo Embankment, where one of the ships at anchor started to sink. The ship was flooded to about half its height and was sinking at a rate of ten centimetres every ten minutes. The firefighters managed to stop the sinking by pumping out the water using electric and petrol pumps," said the firefighters. Police officers assisted at the scene, along with members of the police river department. There were no persons on board. am/mcs
