President: I'm Glad Slovakia Will Send to Turkey Firefighters and Rescuers

Bratislava, February 6 (TASR) - I'm glad that Slovakia joined the aid for Turkey and will send firefighters and rescuers to the regions affected by the earthquake, President Zuzana Caputova posted on a social network on Monday. "My thoughts are with all the people who were affected by the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria," noted the head of state. Interim Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) stated on Monday afternoon that Slovakia will participate in helping Turkey after the devastating earthquake. Slovak firefighters and mountain rescuers with dogs will travel to the country. The 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit an area in southeastern Turkey near the border with Syria at 4 a.m. local time on Monday. The epicentre was located north of the Turkish city of Gaziantep. Tremors were felt in the Turkish capital Ankara, Cyprus, the Gaza Strip and Cairo, Egypt. The earthquake claimed over 1,200 lives. am/mcs
