Premier Meets Hungarian President, They Condemn Russian Annexation Attempt

Bratislava, September 30 (TASR) - Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) met with Hungarian President Katalin Novak who came to Slovakia for an official visit on Friday, TASR learnt from the Government's Office press department on the same day. At the meeting, Heger and Novak condemned Russia's attempt to annex Ukrainian regions and underlined that there can be no doubt about Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Also discussed were mutual neighbourly ties between Bratislava and Budapest, economic problems and energy crisis caused by the Russian aggression in Ukraine. They concurred that aside from addressing the current problems, it is necessary to engage in strategic planning regarding defence, energy and demography in Europe. "Slovakia and Hungary hold different views on the sanctions against Russia and solutions to the energy crisis. But despite the differences, we must talk and seek compromises together," stated Heger. mf/mcs
