Fico: Smer-SD Wants Extraordinary House Session on Law Enforcement

Bratislava, September 30 (TASR) - Opposition Smer-SD party has proposed to convene an extraordinary parliamentary session to approve a resolution on holding some law enforcement bodies liable for misconduct, Smer-SD chair Robert Fico announced at a press conference on Friday. "In the shadow of grave social problems, the rule of law in Slovakia is being destroyed. We've filed a motion for a parliamentary session, so that next week the House can approve a special resolution on the outrageous methods seen employed by the law enforcement and hold investigators, prosecutors and some judges liable for what they're committing," said Fico. The Smer-SD leader referred to several cases and testimonies by collaborating defendants. In the light of some testimonies, he demanded an immediate parliamentary probe to be launched at the Financial Administration. If the extraordinary session is not convened, Fico plans to initiate a no-confidence motion in Interior Minister Roman Mikulec (OLaNO). mf/mcs
