Presov/Kosice, September 23 (TASR) - The Health Ministry presented new salaries and solutions for better health care to health workers in eastern Slovakia on Friday, ministry's communications department told TASR on the same day, adding that Minister Vladimir Lengvarsky (an OLaNO nominee) and State Secretary Lenka Dunajova Druzkovska visited J.A. Reiman Faculty Hospital in Presov and subsequently Louis Pasteur University Hospital in Kosice. "Slovak health care hasn't moved from its place over the last ten years. As soon as the pandemic made it possible, we started working on comprehensive solutions. From ensuring the salaries of health workers to a new system of fair funding of operations, investments, education, to the setting of new rules for dealing with health levies. Since we're proceeding to the implementation phase after the preparation phase, we want to present the planned changes to our colleagues," said Lengvarsky. According to the Health Ministry, the Government-approved proposal for fairer payment is the result of months of negotiations with all relevant parties involved, including trade unions, chambers, professional organisations, associations and other organisations. "This is the highest salary increase in the past ten years. But above all, we're addressing the salaries of health workers comprehensively, it doesn't only apply to certain professions. I think the fact that the minister - a doctor and the state secretary - a nurse have come to our colleagues, has a certain symbolic value," noted Dunajova Druzkovska. am/mcs
