OLaNO MP Stancik Wants Zilinka to Attend Foreign Affairs Committee Session

Bratislava, January 20 (TASR) - OLaNO MP Andrej Stancik stated on Thursday that he wants Prosecutor-General Maros Zilinka to attend a special session of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee to explain his recent trip to Russia. "We’re giving Zilinka an opportunity to sufficiently explain the trip. Such a visit, in the context of the situation in Ukraine and Russia’s massing of military forces on the border between the two countries, is insensitive and raises many questions," explained Stancik. Committee head Marian Kery (Smer-SD) told TASR that Stancik hasn’t asked him to convene a special session yet, adding that the committee isn’t a superior body to the prosecutor-general and so Zilinka is not obliged to comply. In his opinion, Zilinka’s trip was "absolutely legitimate". zel/mcs
