Bratislava, December 4 (TASR) - The Government and Parliament inspire lower levels of trust than mayors and town councillors, according to a representative survey conducted by Focus agency for Transparency International Slovakia (TIS) in the second half of November on a sample of 1,005 respondents, TIS has reported on a social network. While the Government is currently trusted by less than a quarter of the population and Parliament by 27 percent of the public, local politicians enjoyed the confidence of as many as 58 percent of the respondents. On average, heads of self-governing regions (43 percent) and regional councillors (41 percent) also enjoy significantly higher levels of confidence than the Government and Parliament. Meanwhile, almost 52 percent of the people polled definitely trust or tend to trust President Zuzana Caputova. At the municipal level, people on average trust mayors and councillors of small villages more than mayors and councillors of large and more anonymous cities. The mayors of Bratislava and Kosice, who on average are trusted by less than 44 percent of the population of these cities, ended up worst in this comparison. am/df
