Coalition MP Kollar: Local Authorities No Maidservants of National Gov't

Bratislava, October 27 (TASR) - Local authorities shouldn't be viewed by the Government as its maidservants, co-governing For the People MP and mayor of Hlohovec (Trnava region) Miroslav Kollar has written on Facebook in reference to the fact that the Government gave local authorities only four days to re-organise the countrywide coronavirus testing to last merely two days instead of the three announced last week. Nevertheless, Kollar said that his town authority will do everything possible to organise the mass testing. "This won't be for the sake of those who invented the thing, but for those who'll be working at the testing sites, our people and medical workers, in order to avert a collapse of hospitals," said Kollar, before going on to criticise the testing as a bad, politically motivated decision that was made without proper expertise. "When the details of preparations for this operation come to light one day, not one stone will be left on another," said Kollar. He added that the only thing that he expects from the organisers, i.e. the Government and the Defence Ministry in particular, is to provide a soldier with test kits and certificates on the mornings of Saturday and Sunday, and this soldier will be responsible for the whole operation at each testing site. "If no soldier appears at a particular testing site, I won't open it," said Kollar. bub/df
