Kolikova: It's Useless to Discuss Legal Solutions without Data from Experts

Bratislava, October 21 (TASR) - In order to adopt measures and subsequent legal regulations, it's first necessary to have information from the Government's pandemic commission and the central crisis management team, Justice Minister Maria Kolikova (For the People) stated on Wednesday in connection with possible ordering mandatory isolation in the event of failure to undergo the nationwide testing and also a possible lockdown. The minister therefore thinks that it's useless to talk about legal solutions in advance without knowing what must be done. "We have legislation that talks about the possibility of measures taken by the chief hygienist, we have options that the Government has, such as the curfew; so there are certain options. I don't want to talk about it now, it's important to know what is really needed, then we'll look for legal solutions," she said at a press conference on Wednesday in connection with a possible ban on going out if somebody avoids the nationwide testing. According to Kolikova, the situation is critical with regard to the latest statements by Health Minister Marek Krajci (OLaNO) in connection with the possibilities of medical material and medical facilities. Prime Minister Igor Matovic (OLaNO) said earlier on Wednesday that given the current epidemic and its development, Slovakia has two options: either a nationwide lockdown, or people will do something that will allow the country to avoid a lockdown scenario. The premier noted that it will be up to epidemiologists to decide whether Slovakia should follow the path of mass testing or a lockdown. am
