Kollar: I Made Last Possible Step With Proposal for My Ousting

Bratislava, July 7 (TASR) - With the proposal for a no-confidence vote in me I made the last step I could, Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollar (We Are Family) said following the announcement of the results of the vote on his dismissal in Parliament, TASR learnt on Tuesday. "We'll continue to hold the line, we'll hold this coalition together," declared Kollar. The parliamentary chair noted that he didn't want to behave like members of previous governing coalitions and boycott a possible ousting. He rejects allegations that he blackmailed his coalition partners by leaving the coalition and the fall of the Government. According to him, the numbers clearly say that following the departure of We Are Family, the Government could continue with a majority in Parliament. Kollar pointed out that his partners first called on him to apologise for what he had done, then came up with further suggestions that he should at least not use the academic degree, that then it would be closed to them. But even that, according to him, was not enough for them. He added that he agreed with the words of Prime Minister Igor Matovic (OLaNO) that some coalition partners say one thing and do a different one. Kollar faced a no-confidence vote on Tuesday for allegedly plagiarising his masters' thesis. He filed the motion himself. Only five MPs out of 71 valid votes voted for his resignation. He therefore remains in office. am/mcs
