Bratislava, June 1 (TASR) - Slovak entrepreneurs are expanding their business in the Czech Republic, and since last year they've added another 458 Czech companies to their portfolios, making them the most common owners of Czech firms (13,948) for the first time, according to the latest analysis conducted by consulting company Bisnode. Slovak businessmen pushed owners from Russia (13,427 companies), who are gradually leaving the Czech market, into second place. "Expansion into the Czech market is easier for Slovak entrepreneurs when compared to businessmen from other countries. The common past of both countries, the almost zero language barrier, territorial proximity as well as the growth in the Czech economy in recent years have played an important role," said Bisnode analyst Petra Stepanova. Last year, entrepreneurs from countries of the post-communist bloc strengthened their positions in the Czech Republic. Slovak entrepreneurs in the rankings of foreign owners are followed by Russians, Ukrainians and Germans, while the number of companies with Russian and German capital decreased by 1,043 and 427 companies year-on-year. The number of German firms decreased to 9,143, while Ukrainian entrepreneurs increased their figure by 296 to 12,461. am/df
