Stats Office: Employment in Accomodation Up 13.1 percent Y-o-Y in May

Bratislava, July 12 (TASR) - Employment in May rose year-on-year in most sectors, most rapidly in accommodation - by 13.1 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Friday. Annual increases were also recorded in the following sectors: in construction - by 9.2 percent; in selected market services - 7.7 percent; in the IT sector - 6.2 percent; in transport and warehousing - 5.7 percent; in pubs and restaurants - 5.2 percent; and in the sale and repair of motor vehicles - 1.7 percent. Conversely, employment in the retail sector went down by 2 percent, while in the wholesale sector it fell by 1.8 percent. Industry saw a drop of 0.1 percent. Average employment rates for the first five months of 2019 increased y-o-y in the following categories: in accommodation by 10.2 percent; in construction - 8.9 percent; in selected market services - 7.4 percent; in restaurants and pubs - 6.1 percent; in the IT sector - 5.5 percent; in the sale and repair of motor vehicles - 2.9 percent; and in industry - 0.4 percent.
