Bratislava, May 9 (TASR) - The Judicial Council is slated to elect its new chair on Tuesday (May 14), with the sole candidate thus far being judge Marcela Kosova, who was nominated by six representatives of judges sitting on the Council, TASR has learnt from Judicial Council Office spokesperson Veronika Vasilkova. At least three votes of Judicial Council members are needed to put forth a nomination. This can be done even as late as on the election day. Only members of the Judicial Council can run for the post and a simple majority is required to elect the chair. The Judicial Council ousted its former chair Jan Mazak in April with ten votes, whereas two members abstained and four chose not to vote. At least ten votes are needed to dismiss the chair. Mazak was subsequently ousted from the Council altogether by Parliament. mf
