Bratislava, May 7 (TASR) - Retail revenues maintained growth in March of this year, going up by 0.5 percent in fixed prices year-on-year (y-o-y), the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday. The pace of growth in the third month of the year was slower than in the previous two months, however, with retail revenues falling by 0.6 percent month-on-month (m-o-m). Of the nine monitored components of retail, six recorded revenues higher than in March 2023. The most significant positive impact was 15.7-percent growth in revenues of e-shops (sales outside shops, stalls and markets), as well as increases of up to 4 percent in the revenues of hypermarkets and supermarkets (non-specialised outlets) as well as hobby markets, furniture and consumer electronic stores (stores selling other household goods). Pubs and restaurants maintained their positive trend of year-on-year revenue growth for the nineteenth month in a row, reaching 4 percent y-o-y in March. Conversely, the overall performance of the sector was dampened by some declines in revenues, most significantly in petrol stations (outlets selling fuel) - by almost 21 percent, and in IT shops - by 36 percent (specialised sales of IT and communications equipment). Other components of domestic trade that posted year-on-year declines in revenues in March were the sale and repair of motor vehicles and wholesale (both by almost 10 percent), and accommodation (a slower decline of less than 4 percent). am/df
