Several Thousand People Protest Against Changes to RTVS and Pension Pillar

Bratislava, May 2 (TASR) - Several thousand people gathered at the Bratislava Freedom Square on Thursday to protest against upcoming changes to public RTVS broadcaster and the second pension pillar. The changes were organised by opposition Progressive Slovakia. Speakers addressing the crowd pointed out that having well-balanced news coverage by the Slovak television and radio doesn't mean giving up on the fundamental values of truth and democracy. In their view, the Slovak democracy needs a public medium. In addition, the government intends to interfere with private pension savings in the second pension pillar, and for that, it also needs to muzzle the media first, they added. mf/mcs
