Krupa: Kalinak Likely Serves Interest of Foreign Arms Manufactures

Bratislava, May 2 (TASR) - MP Juraj Krupa (SaS) harbours a suspicion that Defence Minister Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD) serves the interests of foreign arms manufacturers at the expense of the Slovak ones. Krupa said this at a press briefing held over the exports of Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. "Slovakia exported only two pieces of Zuzana 2 howitzers and that was back in the last year," claimed Krupa, adding that Slovakia is supposed to export an additional 16 pieces of Zuzana 2 howitzers by the end of the year. "We have a suspicion that this won't be the case, though," warned Krupa, who believes that Kalinak prefers to export a foreign company's Dita howitzers. Krupa thinks that both howitzers use the same barrels. The lawmaker announced that he will try to have the issue discussed by the House Defence and Security Committee, a session of which he has initiated. mf/mcs
