Bratislava, April 26 (TASR) - The opposition Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) is criticising the decision of the Health Ministry to rebuild the hospital in the Bratislava borough of Ruzinov instead of building a university hospital in Bratislava's Razsochy and to build a children's hospital in Razsochy, TASR learnt on Friday. The party considers this to be an unprofessional decision with negative consequences for patients. It has therefore started collecting signatures to convene an extraordinary session of parliament to oust Health Minister Zuzana Dolinkova (Voice-SD). "We don't know anything about the new hospital in Ruzinov. This project will start completely from scratch, with only part of the project documentation from Razsochy, while the hospital in Ruzinov doesn't even have enough land for the construction of a new hospital," noted KDH MP Frantisek Majersky, adding that the hospital in Razsochy had the basic prerequisites to start construction in the near future, while the study of the Health Ministry envisages the completion of the hospital in Ruzinov only in 2038. "Failure to proceed with the Razsochy project will result in damage in tens of millions of euros that have so far been spent on this hospital, which is the cost of one district hospital," pointed out KDH. The ministry's decision has also been criticised by the opposition 'Slovakia' party. It again called on other opposition parties to support the proposal to dismiss the minister. "It took the previous Smer-SD government twelve years to decide where the state will build the university hospital in Bratislava - in the Razsochy area. Today we've learnt that this won't be the case. They promise it [the hospital] to us in another fourteen years in Ruzinov, where nothing is ready. We believe that this is the last drop in the cup of patience of our opposition colleagues, who will now supply us with signatures for a no-confidence vote in Minister Dolinkova," said MP for the party and former health minister Marek Krajci. Progressive Slovakia (PS) MP Oskar Dvorak objects that the minister decided on a new national university hospital without a wider professional discussion. "Such a non-transparent procedure only reduces the chances of success of the project, which is crucial for the quality of health care in Slovakia. Even the project itself is problematic at first sight. The new children's hospital will be on a different site from the new university hospital. The minister has clearly given up the ambition to build a new comprehensive hospital with all the specialised institutes," he pointed out, insisting that a hospital of this magnitude should unite all specialised institutes so that the patient finds the necessary care under one roof. am/mcs
