Premier Calls on Supreme Court Chair to Provide Info on Files' Redistribution

Bratislava, April 24 (TASR) - Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) announced at a news conference on Wednesday that he has called on Supreme Court chairman Jan Sikuta to provide information on how files in the most sensitive political cases were redistributed through the information system between 2020 and 2023. Fico noted that the Supreme Court had no problem with that in the past. According to Fico, this isn't interference with the independence of the judiciary. The premier finds it suspicious that in the past all the most sensitive cases were assigned to the panel of judge Juraj Kliment. He pointed out that it's impossible for all the cases to be assigned to Kliment, as the information system should distribute the files randomly. Therefore, the Justice Ministry asked the Supreme Court to make information from the information system available to it. "We just wanted to know if there was any problem," stated Fico. However, court employees refused to provide the information concerning the system. ko/mcs
