Raz: Traffic Situation near Strecno to Be Improved by Nets and Visnove Tunnel

Bratislava, April 20 (TASR) - The state wants to improve the situation on the busy road under Strecno Castle (Zilina region) by urgently installing more steel nets to catch rocks falling from the cliff onto the road, Transport Minister Jozef Raz (a Smer-SD nominee) stated on Friday at a briefing following the meeting of the crisis management team. At the same time, the state is holding talks with the contractors of the Visnove tunnel to speed up its handover. "As of today, the project for the implementation of measures to prevent rockfall on this section has been completed. This concerns the road, which is administered by the Slovak Road Administration (SSC). The SSC director has been given the task to implement measures as soon as possible to prevent rocks from falling on the road. They must be implemented in such a way that traffic restrictions during the works are minimised, meaning that the impact on the permeability of the road is minimal," stated Raz. am/mcs
