Bratislava, April 19 (TASR) - During a discussion at the 20th annual congress of the Republican Employers Union (RUZ), Vice-Premier and Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) drew attention to the importance of the development of the energy sector for the future of Slovakia, TASR was told by the ministry's press department on Friday. Improving the business environment, digitisation and support for the environment were also high on the agenda of the discussion. "I'm aware of the fact that our businesses have had a really challenging time and the previous turbulent election term didn't make it any easier for them. Under my leadership, the Economy Ministry will work with businesses and the regulator to ensure fair energy prices not only for households but also for the business sector. That is why we need an energy-strong Slovakia with sufficient resources, not only for today's consumption but also for the future," stated Sakova. The RUZ representatives pointed to the challenges that Slovak enterprises were facing during the last election term, as well as COVID-19, energy and inflation crises. An important economic topic was in particular the regulation of the energy market in order to contribute to preserving the competitiveness of Slovak industry, as well as the setting of regulated tariffs and charges for electricity supply for industrial consumers. am/mcs
