National Museum to Repeat Tender for Reconstruction of Spis Castle

Bratislava, April 19 (TASR) - The Slovak National Museum (SNM) has to repeat a public tender for the reconstruction of Spis Castle in eastern Slovakia as it couldn't conclude a contract with the winner of last year's tender because the successful bidder didn't cooperate and failed to provide documents necessary for the conclusion of the contract within the deadline, the Culture Ministry has reported. The ministry at the same time advised the museum to refrain from signing a contract with the runner-up of last year's tender. The complete reconstruction of Spis Castle, a national cultural monument inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is demanding both in terms of the size of the castle and the finances needed for its restoration. SNM has therefore divided it into five stages and it'll take several more years to complete it. zel/mcs
