Oponice, March 28 (TASR) - Joint Slovak-Hungarian monitoring of the impact of the operation of the Gabcikovo Dam on the environment was high on the agenda of the working meeting of representatives of the Slovak and Hungarian governments in the Oponice manor house in Nitra region on Thursday. Representatives of both delegations approved and signed the joint annual monitoring reports, agreed on the dates of data exchange between the experts as well as on the deadlines for the preparation of national and subsequent joint reports, reported general secretary of the Environment Ministry's service office Marek Chovan. According to Chovan, the Environment Ministry supports the work of the experts and expects that in the coming months the team put together by Government Proxy for Gabcikovo Andrej Kasan will arrange with the Hungarian partners to optimise the monitoring of the environmental impact of the Gabcikovo Waterworks and to intensify the work on the preparation of the assessment reports in cooperation with the ministry's organisations. "Under previous governments, there were delays in the agreed deadlines," concluded Chovan. am/mcs
