Stats Office: EU-harmonised Inflation at 3 percent in August

Bratislava, August 19 (TASR) - EU-harmonised inflation in Slovakia stood at 3 percent year-on-year in August, the Slovak Statistics Office announced on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the average harmonised inflation rate for the 12-month period ending in August 2019 amounted to 2.5 percent.
As for monthly developments in August, the index of consumer prices was mainly influenced by the following increases: in transport - by 0.16 percentage points (p.p.).; in miscellaneous goods and services - 0.03 p.p.; in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels - 0.02 p.p.; in hotels and restaurants - 0.02 p.p.; in alcoholic beverages and tobacco - 0.02 p.p.; foodstuffs - 0.01 p.p.; and in furniture, household equipment and regular household maintenance - 0.01 p.p.
Conversely, downward pressure on prices month-on-month was exerted by decreases in recreation and culture - by 0.01 p.p.; and in clothing and footwear - 0.03 p.p.
