Bratislava, September 14 (TASR) - The shift from gasoline and diesel engines to electromobility alters the logistics scheme because suppliers are changing, too, general director of GEFCO Slovakia-Czech Republic Aleksander Raczynski told TASR on Saturday. "Currently, electric batteries are supplied from Asia, which is why the firm operates an extensive maritime transport," said Raczynski, adding that many suppliers are abandoning the production of classic engines and the logistics of transporting completed vehicles is changing as well. "We have a lot of electric batteries at our warehouses and we're carrying out installations, too," he claimed. Raczynski said that the production of electric car is simpler to an extent than with combustible engines vehicles, as fewer components are required. With respect to upcoming Brext, Raczynski stated that no one yet knows how the situation will develop. "Hard Brexit would pose complications to customs-related processes and might make our business more difficult. However, we have a large department for customs and taxes, so it might also present a great opportunity for us," he claimed. GEFCO employs 15,000 people in 47 countries and saw a turnover of €4.6 billion in 2018. mf
