Bratislava, July 20 (TASR) - At their march on Saturday, gays and lesbians wanted to point to the fact that they also have the right to have a contended and happy life in Slovakia, with the ninth year of the march starting at Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava, TASR learnt on the same day. The march was also supported by Ombudswoman Maria Patakyova, Bratislava Mayor Matus Vallo and more than 30 embassies in Slovakia. LGBTI supporters want to challenge politicians this year not to abuse LGBTI topic in their election campaigns. "We're calling on politicians to stop with it and start solving real problems they have in Slovakia. The biggest problem of our community is that there is still no legal protection for same-sex couples and their families," said Rainbow Pride organiser Martin Macko. A sufficient number of police officers are overseeing the march. "We've deployed criminal, order and traffic police," Bratislava regional police spokesperson Michal Szeiff told TASR. "Our Constitution says that everyone is free and equal in dignity and rights. The international standard says that everyone is equal in rights and everyone has the right to protect their privacy and family life, and we in Slovakia haven't observed this yet, and the worst part is that we haven't yet engaged in a serious discussion how should we deal with these issues and relations," said Patakyova. am
