Transport Ministry: Slovakia Doing Well in Tourism

Bratislava, June 12 (TASR) - The promotion of Slovakia as an attractive tourist destination is going well and resulting also in record-breaking numbers of visitors, serving as evidence that tourists wish to explore Slovakia, TASR was told by the Ministry of Transport and Construction on Wednesday. The ministry spoke in response to a press conference held earlier in the day by the Slovak Tourism Offices and Agencies Association (SACKA). However, there is still room for improvement if Slovakia intends to hold its ground in the face of competition from other countries. "We'd like to strengthen the development of tourism products with high added value, which also lead to higher efficiency of expenses incurred. This concerns mostly free-time activities such as countryside tourism, winter and "experience" tourism," stated the ministry, adding that a greater emphasis is also put on development of the spa sector. The tourism has thus been developing in a positive direction, with Slovakia boasting a promising potential for further development, said the ministry. mf/mcs
