Bardy: Marian K. Indicted with Murder of Kuciak No Surprise to Me

Bratislava, March 14 (TASR) - The fact that controversial entrepreneur identified due to legal reasons only as Marian K. was charged with ordering the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak, which led also to the death of Kuciak's fiancee Martina Kusnirova, doesn't come as a surprise to news website aktuality.sk editor-in-chief Peter Bardy, TASR learnt on Thursday. Bardy, as head of the editorial room where Kuciak worked, feels more at peace when people such as Marian K. are behind bars, however. "I feel less fear for our journalists," he told TASR. Since the day Kuciak was killed, Bardy has considered Marian K. as one of the prime suspects with a motive to have the journalist murdered. "There'll still be an investigation and the prosecution and courts will need to put in a lot of work, with courts to decide at the end of the day whether or not Marian K. is guilty and to be punished or not. I my view, he is guilty and I'm convinced that if not by himself, then in cahoots with someone else he might have been the architect of what culminated in the murder of Kuciak. If this is so, then he should receive the sternest punishment possible," claimed Bardy. The aktuality.sk editor-in-chief has placed his trust in the investigation team. "If he [Marian K.] were to walk free, I would have been worried that what happened to Jan Kuciak might happen again - whether or not Marian K. was really behind this. For me, Marian K. is a toxic and dangerous individual, with direct ties to mobsters and in business with the Mafia," stated Bardy. mf/mcs
