Presidential Elections Should Cost More Than €12.7 million

Bratislava, January 11 (TASR) - The upcoming presidential elections in March should cost more than €12.7 million; the Interior Ministry will pay €11,266,873 and the Statistics Office €1,494,750, TASR has learnt on Friday. "This amount of money includes the expenditure related to the second round of Slovak presidential elections if the president isn't elected in the first round," the Interior Ministry stated. The money from the Interior Ministry's budget will be mainly used for the remuneration of members and registrars of electoral commissions and printing of ballot, guidance and information sheets. Besides that, they'll be used for proper functioning of electoral commissions, equipment of election rooms and to maintain public policy. The elections will take place on March 16 (Saturday), and the possible second round is planned on March 30. zel/mcs/am
