Miklosko: KDH Head Hlina Owns Neither Me Nor Remisova

Bratislava, December 16 (TASR) - Independent presidential candidate and former member of the Christian Democrats (KDH) Frantisek Miklosko on Sunday criticised a statement by incumbent KDH chairman Alojz Hlina that his party is likely to support the winner of a possible primary election between OLaNO MP Veronika Remisova and Miklosko himself in the 2019 presidential election. Miklosko wrote on Facebook that such a proposal is built on sand, as Hlina possesses neither him nor Remisova. The former KDH member also said that it would be a honour for him to gain the official support of KDH in the upcoming presidential battle, but as an independent candidate he doesn't want to serve as a tool for election agitation by political parties. The extra-parliamentary KDH at its Council session on Saturday said that the party won't put forward its own candidate for the 2019 presidential election partly due to the fact that KDH is aware of the great responsibility that comes with the upcoming election. KDH is ready to hold discussions with the winner of a primary election between Remisova and Miklosko, and if that doesn't happen, KDH will support the Opposition candidate who has the best chance to get to the second round of the presidential election. tz/df
