Kiska Meets Mayors of Regional Cities

Bratislava, December 11 (TASR) - Many complications would be avoided if local government issues and tasks were first debated with municipal representatives, President Andrej Kiska wrote on a social network on Tuesday after having lunch with the newly elected mayors of the eight regional cities. "Towns have been given a duty to remove snow without the mayors having enough time to prepare for it in advance... This is not an issue that can be addressed within one day. The same applies to school canteens that aren't ready to provide lunch to all pupils," stated Kiska in connection to the recent Parliament's decisions. He added that these decisions have caused problems for towns and villages. Kiska further commented on the results of the November local elections. "They showed a great desire for change, for a decent Slovakia. People expect a change in the style of politics and co-operation instead of slender. Only like this can we move Slovakia forward," said the president. tz/mcs
