Most-Hid Grasps Lajcak's Dilemma in Face of UN Compact on Migration

Bratislava, November 20 (TASR) - The junior coalition Most-Hid party appreciates the dilemma faced by chief of diplomacy Miroslav Lajcak (a Smer-SD nominee) regarding the UN global compact on migration, TASR learnt on Tuesday. Lajcak conceded that he's willing to entertain his own resignation if Parliament votes for Slovakia not to join the compact. "We understand the dilemma of the foreign [and European] affairs minister, who was at the very centre of drafting the document and who talks about people taking advantage of the issue with an eye towards acquiring cheap political points," Most-Hid spokesperson Klara Debnar told TASR. The objections to the proposed UN document will be deliberated by the House, with Lajcak slated to address the parliamentary foreign affairs committee in this context on Wednesday, November 21. mf/df/tz
