Justice Min: Ukraine Not Reporting on Dealing with Ducky Murder Suspect

Bratislava, November 9 (TASR) - Ukraine hasn't told the Slovak authorities anything for quite a long time on how it's been dealing with the case of a Ukrainian national identified as Oleh T.K., who was charged in Slovakia for murdering former Slovak economy minister and ex-director of gas utility SPP Jan Ducky in 1999, TASR learnt on Friday. "We urged the Ukrainian Prosecutor-General's Office by e-mail [to report on the course of investigation] on October 5. We still haven't received any response," Alexandra Szakalova from the Slovak Justice Ministry's press department told TASR on Friday. The Slovak authorities shifted the case onto the Ukrainian law-enforcement and judiciary bodies in 2010, as Oleh T.K. - who's been in Ukraine for almost a decade - repeatedly didn't show up at court trials in Bratislava. According to Slovak laws, the country's authorities could resume proceedings against Oleh T.K., if Ukraine stated that it had dropped the case. Ducky, a senior politician and business figure during the era of Vladimir Meciar in the 1990s, was found shot dead in the hallway of an apartment house on Bajzova Street in January 1999. Oleh T.K. has been denying involvement in the murder. bub
