Minister Gal to Submit Second Draft of Legislation on Property Seizure

Bratislava, November 8 (TASR) - Justice Minister Gabor Gal (Most-Hid) will submit a new draft of the legislation on property confiscation, ministry spokesperson Zuzana Drobova confirmed on Thursday. The original draft was withdrawn by Gal from the Parliament's second reading in September over complaints voiced by coalition partners. The new draft will scrap items the coalition partners weren't happy with. "Since I've harboured an aspiration, and still do, to ensure efficient property seizure, we will remove all problematic objections that have piled up," said Gal. According to Gal, the new legislation will make technical improvements to the existing rules guiding the confiscation of property. "It will do away with disputes as to who, when and under what conditions property can be seized, what to do with a secured property that is subject to quick deterioration, what to do with a seized property that shouldn't have been seized in the first place and the damage incurred as a result of seizure. The legislation will also determine more specifically which state body is supposed to administer seized property and in what way," claimed Gal. mf/mcs
