Employment Goes Up Y-o-y in Almost All Segments in August 2018

Bratislava, October 12 (TASR) - Employment rose year-on-year in all segments except for wholesale in August 2018, whereas in y-o-y comparisons of the first eight months of 2018 the employment recorded a rise in all segments, according to data released by the Statistics Office on Friday.
Salaries also went up y-o-y, save for the salaries in the segment of sale and repairs of motor vehicles.
In August, employment rose y-o-y in housing by 10.7 percent, sale and repairs of motor vehicles and restaurants by 7.9 percent each, selected market services by 6.3 percent, transport and storage by 5.7 percent, information and communication activities by 5 percent, retail by 4.2 percent, construction by 4.1 percent and industry by 2.1 percent. The employment went down y-o-y only in wholesale by 0.2 percent.
On y-o-y average in the first eight months of this year, employment recorded an uptick in the information and communication activities, transport and storage, sale and repairs of motor vehicles, restaurants, selected market services, housing, retail, industry, construction and wholesale.
The average monthly nominal wage in August 2018 swelled y-o-y in restaurants by 10.9 percent to €480; information and communication services by 10 percent to €1,859; housing by 10 percent to €771; industry by 7.6 percent to €1,101; in wholesale by 7.5 percent to €956; in selected market services by 6.4 percent to €950; transport and storage by 6.3 percent to €962; construction by 5.9 percent to €716 and retail by 5.7 percent to €726. The wage dropped y-o-y only in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 0.4 percent to €971.
The average real monthly wage rose y-o-y in August 2018 in restaurants, housing, information and communication activities, industry, wholesale, but also in selected market services, transport and storage, construction and retail. It went down only in sale and repairs of motor vehicles.
In the first months of this year, the monthly wage saw a y-o-y growth in information and communication activities by 9.9 percent, housing by 8.5 percent and in restaurants by 8.2 percent. The wages also went up in industry, wholesale, retail, construction, selected market services, transport and storage, sale and repairs of motor vehicles.
In y-o-y terms, real monthly wages also increased in information and communication activities, housing, restaurants, industry, wholesale as well as other segments including the sale and repairs of motor vehicles.
