Pittsburgh/Bratislava, July 21 (TASR-correspondent) - If Americans want to study the Slovak language, their only option is the University of Pittsburgh which has the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature, including the teaching of the Slovak language. The Slovak language is currently studied by 10 young Americans. Graduates of the department may continue studying history of Eastern Europe, Slavonic studies, language, or they potentially seek a job in the state administration. Vice-premier for Investment and Informatisation Richard Rasi (Smer-SD) visited the university on Friday. "The University of Pittsburgh is considered to be one of the largest in the world. The Pittsburgh Agreement was signed here, which actually laid the foundations of not only Czechoslovakia, but also of the enactment of the Slovak language and the rights of the Slovaks. This happened exactly one hundred years ago. And the Slovak language is taught here," said Rasi. Rasi welcomed that Slovak traditions are maintained in Pittsburgh, the city that was the capital of Slovaks living abroad. The vice-premier also visited the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. Richard Rasi will end his working visit to the United States on Saturday and should return to Slovakia on Sunday morning. am
